A. A successful US CPA achiever don’t have to sit for any other exam to be a CPA in Canada.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

B,. This exemption has become possible through the Mutual Recognition Agreement( MRA) in operation since January,2018.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Procedural differences between the two designations – CPA US and CPA Canada<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

In CPA US, individual state boards of accountancy confer the US CPA course certificate and all the 55 boards set their specific requirements besides the recommendations of NASBA and AICPA.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

On the other hand, although, Canadian provinces also had their own regional accounting bodies, it was after 2014, there was a merger of different bodies which finally comes under a single umbrella of national authority.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

This paved the way of building partnership with other accounting bodies to set up the MRA format. The MRA between CPA Canada through IQAB with NASBA and AICPA from 1st January, 2021 onwards formed the link between US CPA and CPA Canada effectively.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Through this MRA, a CPA US<\/a> can easily obtain CPA Canada designation without any additional exam provided the US CPA holder fulfilled the few criteria:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Key criteria to obtain Canada CPA for a US CPA holder<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

1) Successful clearance of uniform US CPA exam after completion of the requirements.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

2) The CPA US holder needs to have 30 months of practical experience or 2 years of post qualification experience. In case of shortfall of 2 years post qualification experience, the candidate has to furnish the International Practical Experience Verification and Employer Details form.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

3) The candidate has to be in assent with the CPE requirement of the respective state board.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

One can also consult the Canada – US Reciprocity list to identify the US state board\u00a0 having compatibility agreement with CPA Canada.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Roadmap for CPA US holder to become CPA Canada<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The eligible US CPA holder has to register with appropriate CPA body through following steps:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

a) Completion and submission of International Candidate Application Form<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

b) Proof of confirmation by the home institute that the candidate is holding CPA US in a good standing with the concerned institute.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

c) Evidence of legal name through proper documents.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

d) Proof of work experience furnished in chronological manner<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

e) Payment of administrative fees.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

f) Furnishing additional criteria if any as per the norm of the respective CPA body.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

US CPA salary in India ?\u00a0<\/strong>In India a fresh CPA starts with a minimum salary of\u00a0INR 6 Lakh\u00a0<\/a>annually in a Big4 or MNC.
